Today, Dunaway Gardens is one of the South’s most significant natural rock and floral gardens.

2. Paddle, Angle, and Camp in Chattahoochee Bend State Park

The 2,910-acre Chattahoochee Bend State Park is one of the state’s largest parks. The primarily untouched wooded park stretches five miles along the scenic Chattahoochee River, the perfect place to fish for trout, bass, and catfish and dip your oars in the water. A boat ramp, canoe, and kayak rentals are available in the day-use area, and there’s a beautiful paddle-in campsite.

You can also overnight in one of the lovely cottages, pull-through and back-in RV campsites, walk-in tent sites, screened Adirondack-style shelters, or at the traditional developed camping areas with bathhouses and hot showers nearby.

3. Hike and Bike at Brown’s Mill Battlefield Historic Site

Explore the area where the Civil War Battle of Brown’s Mill took place on July 30, 1864, on four miles of hiking trails dotted with historical markers and six miles of mountain biking trails, including three loops and a connector trail. The mountain biking trails are well-maintained and easy to navigate, with only a few berms and jumps, ideal for beginners to practice their skills.

As you trek along the trails, keep your eye peeled for wildlife that may cross your path. You are also welcome to bring your leased four-legged friend along to enjoy the experience with you.
