The 2023 Ford Expedition is a large SUV with plenty to talk about. This vehicle comes with 10 trim levels to choose from, several seating options, and impressive infotainment features.

Trim Levels

There are 10 different models for the Expedition in 2023. Part of the reason this number is so high is that several of the models come in standard sizing and in the MAX editions. The major difference between the standard and MAX is in the length of the wheelbase. The standard wheelbase in the Expedition is 122 inches and in the Expedition MAX it is 131 inches long.

The trim levels begin with the Expedition XL STX, which has seating for five. Then there is the Expedition XLT, which seats eight people. Moving on up the line are the Expedition Timberline, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. There are also MAX editions for the XLT MAX, Limited MAX, King Ranch MAX, and Platinum MAX.

Interior Space

The base level XLT STX has seating for five. One trim level up is the XLT, which comes standard with seating for up to eight passengers. There is a bench seat for three people in the second row. You also have the option to change the second row to two captain’s chairs, allowing seating for up to seven passengers.

In the King Ranch and King Ranch MAX models, seven-passenger seating is the only option. The 2023 Expedition is so spacious that there is still plenty of cargo room available. With the second and third rows folded down, the standard-sized Expeditions have a maximum cargo volume of 104.6 cubic feet. In the MAX editions, this expands to 121.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

Safety

The XL STX has rear parking sensors and a rearview camera as standard advanced safety features. You have the option to add an available Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package. This package adds additional safety assist features like pre-collision assist, intersection assist, and pro trailer backup assist. This package also adds reverse brake assist and adaptive cruise control.

Infotainment

The base level XL STX comes with a 12-inch touchscreen with FordPass 4G LTE WiFi hotspot technology and connected navigation. It also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is an 8-inch screen for the driver’s gauge cluster display. Plus, this already fairly impressive offering only gets more extensive as you move up through the trim levels.

In the luxurious Platinum MAX, this touchscreen becomes a 15.5-inch display. It comes with the added benefits of wireless phone charging and a 22-speaker sound system with an available subwoofer. This model also increases the driver’s gauge cluster display to a 12.4-inch screen.
